This past weekend was F A N T A S T I C !
Emily was staying downtown at the Hancock again. So Wednesday night I met her down there for dinner and we got to spend another night with an incredible view of the Chicago Skyline. Did I mention this before? I don't think I have. Emily's mom has a friend from 2nd grade that lives on the 58th floor of the John Hancock. The view is incredible. She has two apartments combined in the south east corner of the building, meaning if you look out to the east you can see lake Michigan and if you look south you get chicago with the Sears tower in the distance.
Thursday after work Emily and I went over to Lyndon's new place for a housewarming / going away party. Awesome times, good friends.
Friday we went to a happy hour party at a bar called Howl at the Moon… Free drinks! Then got some dinner before Emily's friends dragged us to Underground (some kind of swanky night club thing).
Saturday, oh… what a day Saturday was. Emily made good on her promise to show me her old hometown of Sauganash. On our way to what I was soon to learn was some fancy schamcy suburban living, we stopped in the Broadway Antiques Mall. What a place! Two levels of antiques, anything you want. The first floor has a little bit of everything, the second floor was like walking into the showroom of a 50's–70's furniture showroom. They had some amazing stuff and if I had more time/money I would have spent a lot more of both there. I did however find a cool little dining table and chairs set.

I also came across a couple nice little Bertoia side chairs.

I wasn't a fan of the black with the military green pad though. I've always liked modern design, but being around it everyday has only increased my love for it.
From there we moved on to Emily's old church. The church she was baptized in. The Queen of All Saints Basilica

It was a beautiful church, a great service, and it seemed surprisingly new inside.

the stained glass was incredible. It was not credible at all.
I also got to see her old neighborhood and her old house.

What is kind of wild is that every one of Emily's current friends lived within 2 blocks of each other. Now it seems they have relocated their old neighborhood downtown.
On the way home we went by this place called Superdawg and got some incredible chicago style hotdogs… oh yeah!
Sunday I ended up going back to the antique store and buying the table and chairs. It now lives in my Kitchen, and I eat meals at it. It was a nice relaxing day, and a good way to end a great weekend.

Hell yeah, imitation Saarinen Tulip chairs!!!

Some details I appear to have missed in the telling of the story of the weekend.

The carpet in the hall of the Hancock is ugly.

The subway ad spaces are beautiful, with no ads in them.

zig zag diagonal shelf.

Emily has beautiful eyes… and is worried about something.

I saw a stampede of people! I don't know what spooked em.
To sum things up. It was a great weekend.
